How to Set Up Your Account and Verify Your Site on Bing

1. Go to Bing Webmaster Tools and click on Get Started—log in using your preferred method.
2. Now, you have two options to add your website on Bing.
   (a) Import the website from Google Search Console.
   
   – Click on Import.
   – Login to Google Search Console Account.
   – Allow permissions to import the data.
   – Select the website you want to Import.
   – Click on Import
   
3. Enter your website URL and click add.
4. Enter your sitemap URL if you have one (a sitemap is a file that lists all the pages on your website).
5. Choose one of the four methods of ownership verification: DNS auto verification, meta tag, XML file, or CNAME record.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions for your chosen method and click verify.

My Favourite verification method is using a meta tag. It’s easy and straightforward.

How to Verify Your Site on Bing using Meta Tag.

1. Go back to Bing Webmaster Tools and click on the HTML Meta Tag option. Copy the verification code from the meta tag. It should look something like this: <meta name=“msvalidate.01” content=“your code” />
2. Go to your WordPress site’s plugin page and install a plugin like Insert Header/Footer if you don’t have one.
3. Go to the plugin’s settings page, add the meta tag in the header section, and click save.
4. Clear all the cache of the website.
5. Go back to Bing Webmaster Tools and click Verify.

How to Submit Sitemaps and URLs on Bing

If you have imported the website from Google Search Console, your sitemaps will also be imported.

But, if you want to cross-check and submit the sitemap, then follow the steps below –

• Log in to your Bing Webmaster Tools account and select your site. Your site must be already added and verified under your account.
• Go to Sitemaps from the left side panel. Click on Submit Sitemap.
• A popup will appear. Paste your sitemap URL and click on Submit.
• A success message will appear at the bottom.

How to submit individual URLs using the Bing URL Submission tool

The URL submission tool on Bing Webmaster is a feature that allows you to submit your website’s URLs to Bing for faster and more accurate indexing. You can submit up to 100 URLs per day.

1. Login to your Bing Webmaster Tools account.
2. Select the website for which you want to submit URLs.
3. Click on “Submit URLs” in the left-hand menu.
4. Add the URLs that you want to submit, one per line.
5. Click on the “Submit” button to submit the URLs.
